Here we go again, another day, another Apple iPhone rumor out of Asia. This time Digitimes is reporting that, according to their sources, Apple is planning to release two iPhones in 2013.
Unlike the China Times report yesterday, Digitimes sources are saying that the iPhones will come with 4-inch displays and feature in-cell technology., no mention of a 4.8-inch display.
“Previously it was said that Apple would release a lower-cost version of its iPhone with a bigger screen in 2013,” Siu Han and Alex Wolfgram write for Digitimes. “But the sources claimed that Apple is indeed developing an iPhone with a bigger screen, but that will not be among the models to be launched this year.”
“One of the two versions to be introduced this year will target the midrange market segment, but both will adopt in-cell touch technology,” Siu Han and Alex Wolfgram explained.
According to the report, Digitimes’ sources are not sure whether “Apple will have adequate supplies of in-cell touch panels in 2013 for a lower-cost version of the iPhone due to mass production issues from the technology in 2012.” It has been reported that the iPhone 5 sales suffered as a result of poor yields for in-cell technology.
