According to a new report from Chinese tech blog MacX (via Nikkan), the screen of the next-generation iPhone will reportedly go into production.
The report suggests that the new iPhone screen will be produced by Sharp, LG and Japan Display. These companies are currently supplying LCD screen for the iPhone 5. The next-generation iPhone is expected to feature a similar design to the iPhone 5. However, camera and processor will receive significant upgrades.
This news comes on the heels of reports that Apple will start the production of display for a Retina iPad Mini in the coming months. This will give 7.9-inch Retina iPad Mini a resolution of 2,048×1,536.
According to a report by CNET, the blog was informed by NPD DisplaySearch that mass production of the iPad mini display should commence in in June or July.
CNET:
“We should see the start of mass production of the panels in June or July,” said Richard Shim, an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch.
LG Display will be one of the major manufacturers of the display, he said, adding that Samsung is not a supplier for the Mini.
“Samsung is currently not in the iPad Mini and they won’t be in the next generation. LGD is becoming a much bigger supplier than before,” he said.
The iPad mini and next-generation iPhone are expected to go on sales sometime this Fall.
