ABI Research is reporting that near field communication (NFC) momentum continues to grow, despite delays affecting the launch of NFC payment services. According to ABI Research’s NFC Market Data, shipments of secure elements raised to 147 million with 125 million enabled handsets being shipped in 2012. “Expected NFC-enabled device shipments were increased, with 2013 forecasted to reach a minimum of 320 million units across all product categories—an increase of 118% over last year.
