Apple and The World Remember Steve Jobs – R.I.P

Steve Jobs

On 5th October 2011, the world and Apple lost the greatest visionary leader with the passing of Steve Jobs. I believe Steve Jobs greatest characteristic was not that of an inventor but as a visionary. He saw things others haven’t dreamt of yet, in a way this must have been very exciting and frustrating for him. I can image him being in a constant state of excitement mixed with frustration. Excited that he knows what device Apple could produce to change the world and frustrated that current technologies are not capable of cannot delivering his vision. As a matter of fact, this makes the manner of Jobs death all the more moving and sad. He has not long enough to witness how his how his creation and vision did change the world.

However, I do not believe Jobs handwork and vision will continue to live on in Apple. In his message, Tim Cook said, “one of the greatest gifts Steve gave to the world is Apple. No company has ever inspired such creativity or set such high standards for itself. Our values originated from Steve and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple. We share the great privilege and responsibility of carrying his legacy into the future.”

Tim Cook’s message:

A message from Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

Steve’s passing one year ago today was a sad and difficult time for all of us. I hope that today everyone will reflect on his extraordinary life and the many ways he made the world a better place.

One of the greatest gifts Steve gave to the world is Apple. No company has ever inspired such creativity or set such high standards for itself. Our values originated from Steve and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple. We share the great privilege and responsibility of carrying his legacy into the future.

I’m incredibly proud of the work we are doing, delivering products that our customers love and dreaming up new ones that will delight them down the road. It’s a wonderful tribute to Steve’s memory and everything he stood for.

– Tim
