Japanese Newspaper Suggests That Apple will release “iPhone 6” in September With 4.7-inch and 5.5 inch Displays

According to a new report from Japanese financial newspaper – Nikkei, Apple’s next generation iPhone will be unveiled in September 2014. The new smartphone will come with moniker – iPhone 6 and will come in 4.7- and 5.5-inch versions, the report said.

This new claim supports previous reports by Bloomberg, and the Wall Street Journal that Apple is building two versions of their iPhone to be released later this year.

The report also claims that Apple’s suppliers are already manufacturing components for the new iPhones:

Manufacturers have apparently begun making such components as fingerprint sensors and chips for liquid-crystal drivers.

Mass production of liquid crystal display panels will start as early as the April-June quarter at Sharp’s Kameyama factory, Japan Display’s Mobara plant, and elsewhere, according to sources. LG Electronics will supply panels as well. The new handset’s display resolution is expected to be significantly higher than that of current models.

In addition to better displays, the iPhone 6 is expected to sport an upgraded iSight camera with 10 megapixel f/1.8 shooter and interchangeable lenses.
