Apple Did Not Send a Request for Quotation Document to Samsung
The report claims that Apple sent out its requests for quotation for new Retina screens to LG Display, Sharp, Japan Display and AU Optronics, but not to Samsung Display. If true, this move could see Samsung slipped down the list of Apple’s suppliers.
The request for quotation document is sent by Apple to potential component suppliers inquiring about prices quotations for specified components and parts. The document is usually sent five-ten months prior to a product launch and is the first step of the component purchase process, according to the report.
iDownloadblog also pointed out that another news outlet –iNews, South Korea’s tech news site, is reporting that Samsung and Apple have not yet severed ties when it comes to mobile phone display.
